Dark Souls Full Play | Episode 22 – The Law Offices of Dumb & Dumber

The Ornstein & Smough fight is fun but difficultWe have reached yet another road block in our story. In order to continue on our journey, the next boss fight we have to take on has not one, but two deadly warriors in it. Ornstein and Smough are badasses that work well together, and even when you beat one of them, the other just gets stronger. Will Joey V be able to defeat them, or are we looking a full week of banging our head against the wall? Watch and find out!

In addition to this epic clash, Joey also goes through the process of showing you the shortcut through Sen’s Fortress, and a spot to find a new Fire Keeper Soul.  If you remember, the Fire Keeper Souls help improve your Estus Flasks, so this will be a huge benefit to those who are playing at home.  Unfortunately it requires you to go to Blighttown, and we all know how much fun that is.

One Comment:

  1. Valiant effort Broey, absolutely no complaints for the fight lengths, no need to apologise because these guys are hard and nothing in Dark Souls should be taken lightly to ‘speed up’ the episode.

Sidenote: There’s something I find great about the story telling of Dark Souls, a lot of it is told in passing, in item descriptions, and mostly by interpretation of what you see.

You mention a Phantom in Sen’s Fortress, s/he is a phantom Iron Knight Tarkus (or Black Iron Tarkus), they use a unique Black Iron armour you don’t see anywhere else, how cool. You fight side by side and then the Phantom moves on.

Right after this you go to Anor Londo, by the Painting of Ariamis you find a corpse that gives you the Black Iron set. You take a moment and realise that Tarkus was a Chosen Undead, one that rang both the Bells, somehow bested the trials of Sen’s Fortress and arrived at Anor Londo, only to die in the cathedral.

There’s a lot of this around, like Artorias who is never mentioned in dialogue, but is all over the Darkroot area and critical to the Four Kings, his weapons are insights into his story. It is a great way to talk about the world you are in without hammering down each point.
