What to Watch | June 29 – July 1, 2012

Placing high in tournaments is a lot of hard work and practiceOne of the things that Competitive Gaming and Charity Marathons have in common, is that there is a lot of preparation needed for both.  For eSports athletes, they spend so much of their free time above everything else, trying to master the intricacies of a particular game.  Many people say things like “oh please I could do that!  It’s just a game, and I’m pretty good.”  That may be true, but when you watch what these players are able to do, you realize that they are on, as some would say, some next level shit.  They are doing things that only a small population of the gaming community can do, and that is not accident, but rather due to hard work.

Gaming marathon organizers are similar.  They spend countless hours toiling over their events, trying to figure out ways to entice people to donate, get their streaming technology in order, and make sure that they are entertaining and on schedule.  The more planning and practice that these marathon groups do, the better their event becomes and the more natural it all looks.  It’s a difficult task, but a very rewarding one when you put the time in.

If nothing else that is why you should watch any or all of these streams this upcoming weekend.  You may get an appreciation for the high level of commitment these people have, and it may even inspire you to follow in their footsteps.
