g33kWatch Podcast – Movies and Music of 2010!

It has become that time.  The time of year where all of your friends get together, and you begin to reflect on what you liked and didn’t like about the year that just was.  For us g33ks though, we like to discuss and argue about what our favorite geeky things were of 2010.  Sometimes, these discussions get heated.  Sometimes, they lead to a ton of tangents.  For you, the listening public, it just means that you are going to be entertained by our shenanigans!

This week we sit down with 8 staff members as we go through our favorite movies of the year, and some of the great music that has been inspiring us to be as creative as we try to be.  Lots of great movies are suggested, but only one can be the best of the year!  Can you guess what it is?!  It’s not really that hard  =)

In addition, we talk a little bit about the travesty that is the Spike VGA’s, the crazy November 2011 we are going to have with Mass Effect 3, Uncharted 3 and Elder Scrolls V, and about the great web series on YouTube Epic Meal Time.

It’s a jam packed show so we hope that you will listen to it and enjoy.  Keep spreading the word to your friends, keep posting and talking to us in our Forums and just keep giving us feedback.  The response has been great so far and we are really looking forward to it!

PS – Reminder that December 18, 1 PM ET we will be living streaming an entire tabletop day!  You can watch us during Paul’s Basement League, play Warhammer 40,000, WarMachine, HORDES, DeathWatch RPG and much more!

  1. Nightmare on Elm Street? REALLY?! I love Jackie Earle Haley, but not even he could save that mediocrefest.

Here’s my top ten in some vague semblance of order…
    – Inception
    – Marwencol
    – Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
    – Restrepo
    – The Town
    – The Human Centipede
    – Enter the Void
    – Monsters
    – Kick-Ass
    – Unstoppable

And, HEY, I have a CD player in my truck. I still burn mixes. Because I’m 14. No, not really. But I’m with you on the Avett Bros., Mumford & Sons, and MCR. Good stuff.

    • heh like I said on the podcast, with everything else that had been said at that time, and given the fact that we wanted to shower Inception with praise at the very end, Elm Street remake was really the last thing that I saw. I honestly think I liked it for three reasons.

#1 I had skipped work that day, so that I could fill out paper work for my new badass job. My previous job really sucked so I was in a good mood that Friday morning.

#2 I saw the first showing in my childhood theater so the entire theater was empty. It was totally awesome, felt like a movie just for me!

#3 I had such low expectations, since I am such a huge fan of the original series, and it was better than I thought. So therefore I know it’s not the best, but it was better than I thought, and to me that gives it a few pips in the right direction. =P

I could’ve given it to Iron Man 2, but … that movie really needed more Mickey Rourke =P
