Thankful For Friends & Fantasy Football – g33kBowl Week 12 Predicitions

Happy Thanksgiving! For those of us in the United States, this week is Thanksgiving.  It’s a wonderful time of the year where we can spend time with family and friends and give thanks for all the good in our lives.  Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, because I love the idea of it.  Get together with loved ones, eat delicious food, and of course; watch a ton of football.  Football has become intertwined with the Thanksgiving holiday so much that we now have three different games on Thanksgiving.  Because the networks want big ratings for the games, a lot of the top teams in the league are involved in these games.

What does this mean for you?  Means that more than likely, a good chunk of your fantasy players will be playing on Thanksgiving.  Does that mean you should pay extra attention?  Yes and No.  Obviously you need to pay attention and make sure your lineup is set before Thursday, but with Thursday games now a common thing, that’s as not a huge deal.  For the most part, set your lineup, and enjoy your Thanksgiving.  In the end, you will more than likely miss one full game because of your dinner, but you can obsess over the other two games on the docket.

Thank you all for being in the league, and for being wonderful friends to me.  More in-depth analysis next week, but for now, enjoy your turkey and Mass Effect Marathon hijinks.  =)

Week 12 Matchups

The Besaid Aurochs
(6-5)
Fighting Pacifists
(7-4)

Analysis

For this week, the Fighting Pacifists need a win so that they can stay in the hunt for the playoffs.  Unfortunately for Mike, Rob Gronkowski is out for the rest of the Fantasy season.  That, combined with major issues with getting a reliable running back in the lineup, are going to make this a really tough two weeks.  Therefore, I’m going to have to give this match to my wife Katie.  She just has a few more options available to her and that should provide some more consistent scoring.

Predicted Winner: The Besaid Aurochs

Hopped Up Titans
(7-3-1)
Tuchanka Thresher Maw’s
(5-6)

Analysis

The common theme of this season has been a distinct lack of quality RB’s in the league.  This is going to finally catch up with Terry and the Tuchanka Thresher Maw’s this week.  Willis McGahee is now on the IR for the rest of the year, and a lack of WR depth, this is going to be a touch week.  Even with Tom Brady and Adrian Peterson out there, scoring points will be rough.  Malfunct and the Hopped Up Titans on the other hand, have not had some significant injuries this year.  RG3 is still leading the squad, with Brandon Marshall, Marshawn Lynch, and Roddy White being major helps as well.  Just based on who is going to score more consistently, I’m going to go with the Hopped Up Titans

Predicted Winner: Hopped Up Titans

Cydonia Chryssalids
(8-3)
NJ Fear Boners
(2-7-2)

Analysis

How did we let this happen?  Hod did we let Paul and the Cydonia Chryssalids get a hold of Trent Richardson, Doug Martin, Reggie Wayne, AND Jimmy Graham?  That seems insane, but that’s just what happened.  We had inklings that Richardson and Martin were going to go be good, but we didn’t think they would be this good.  With all of these high scoring options at Paul’s disposal, it doesn’t bode well for MZ and the Fear Boners.  MZ has issues at WR2, RB2 and even FLEX.  He has some good players in Drew Brees and Jamaal Charles, but I just don’t know how he’ll have enough.  Give this one to the Chryssalids.

Predicted Winner: Cydonia Chryssalids

Mars Space Cowboys
(0-11)
Scottish Highlanders
(5-5-1)

Analysis

This can be short and sweet.  I don’t think Pedro and the Mars Space Cowboys care about this league anymore.  I think they have given up.  They continue to start players that are injured or are just backups that don’t play.  There’s no shame in it, it could happen to any of us.  This is an easy one to predict for the Scottish Highlanders just based on pure numbers.

Predicted Winner: Scottish Highlanders

ARRGAN IISOU
(4-7)
Citadel Spectres
(5-6)

Analysis

Jimmy of ARRGAN IISOU and myself are going to be really busy with Mass Effect Marathon 3 stuff.  What does that mean?  Well they are going to set it and forget it.  With all the craziness, this is all they can hope for.  Playing for pride and bragging rights is all we can do now.  So who will win?  I’m going to predict ARRGAN IISOU.  The teams are evenly matched, but with so many questionable players on the Spectres, that will mean that the players are not playing to their full potential.  Meanwhile IISOU players may not be as good of playmakers, but the consistency should be more than enough.

Predicted Winner: ARRGAN IISOU

Zombie Black Bears
(7-4)
Binary Rock-Jocks
(3-8)

Analysis

With the large amount of Bye weeks, scoring across the league has gone down.  It makes sense afterall.  Some of the best players are out, on top of all the injuries and slumps.  For both the Black Bears and the Rock-Jocks, scoring has become an issue.  For the last three weeks, both teams have average around the 70s-80s which is ok but not great.  This game could go either way to be perfectly honest.  Despite Tony Romo’s struggles, his fantasy output has been oddly consistent for the Zombie Black Bears.  Aaron Rodgers has been amazing for the Rock-Jocks but the other players at RB and WR just don’t seem to be trustworthy.  Let’s give this one to the bears.

Predicted Winner: Zombie Black Bears

Week 12 Spotlight Match

Hoboken Dread Pirates
(8-3)
Lunaris Robunnys
(8-3)

Analysis

It is a safe bet that both of these teams are going to be in the Playoffs.  Unless some really weird stuff happens, that is a given.  That being said, these teams are trying to jockey for positioning.  Both Chris and Yogi are having amazing seasons, so this should be a great matchup.  With that in mind though, I feel like there’s a clear winner in this.  The players on the Dread Pirates are good under normal circumstances, but this is a bad part of the year for them.  Mike Wallace has a terrible backup QB throwing to him, LeSean McCoy has a concussion, and Mikel Leshoure has been inconsistent.  Matt Ryan also had a 5 interception performance last week and while that was probably a fluke, definitely can’t afford to have a repeat of that.

Yogi and the Lunaris Robunnys on the other hand are firing on all cylinders.  Peyton Manning, Ray Rice, CJ Spiller, Miles Austin, Vincent Jackson, and the Bears Defense.  That is one stacked team.  I’m going with the Robunnys in this one, but in the playoffs if these teams meet, then it may be a different story.

Predicted Winner: Lunaris Robunnys
