Never Enough Time for Fantasy Football – g33kBowl Week 7 Predictions

We can't time travel, nor do we have a mind reading device that can tell us the future.Sometimes you just don’t have time to update every little thing.  This is one of those times.  While this is a problem that will affect the length of this article, it is also a good time for advice.  Despite how simple it is to set a fantasy football lineup, there will come a point during the season when you simply do not have enough time to give your team the necessary love and care that they may deserve.  How do you deal with that?

No, building a time machine out of a Delorean is not a viable option … yet.

Instead, you have to be prepared to make some sacrifices in Fantasy Football.  Afterall, it’s just a game.  Some leagues have tons of money on the line, but you can’t gamble away real life responsibilities so that you can spend more time in front of your computer debating whether to start your fourth string RB, or to get an even worse option off of the waiver wire.  Truth be told, most of your opponents are under the same time constraints as you.  Maybe they will have more time to obsess over their team this week, but they might not next week.  This is the point in the season where it just gets difficult to juggle everything.

NO! We messed up the future doc!So what do you do?  You simply make do with the free time you have.  On a busy week, I will generally try and pick up a free agent and check injury statuses on Monday.  I will then check again on Wednesday, and then make one final check on Sunday morning.  Basically I’m looking for major red flags like “this player is out for many weeks, don’t start him.”  Besides that, I’m looking for a few waiver pick ups that are primed to explode this week, or look for people that might have a good matchup in a few weeks time.  This entire process of checking three times during the week, takes me about 15 minutes.

Don’t let everything around you get too heavy.  Breathe, relax, and just do what you can.  You might surprise yourself and find that you can have a great fantasy week without obsessing.

Joey V Prediction Record: (30-11-1)

Week 7 Matchups

Zombie Black Bears
(4-2)
The Besaid Aurochs
(3-3)

Analysis

Just the facts Ma’am

  • The Baltimore Ravens defense is a mess, and Arian Foster of the Zombie Black Bears is due for a huge game.
  • The fact that the Texans will run a lot, means that Matt Schaub of the Aurochs won’t have a big day.
  • Aurochs have 6 players on Bye Week, which is just too many to try and compete against the Black Bears.

Predicted Winner: Zombie Black Bears

Citadel Spectres
(3-3)
Fighting Pacifists
(4-2)

Analysis

Just the facts Ma’am

  • Citadel Spectres players have some very juicy matchups this week.  Players are going against weak defenses like Oakland, Washington, Buffalo, NY Jets, Tennessee, Jacksonville, and New Orleans.  Should be a lot of points scored.
  • The Fighting Pacifists have 4 Cincinnati Bengals playing this week.  If they have a rough game against the Steelers, the entire Pacifists team could suffer.
  • The Spectres need to win this game if they hope to make a playoff run.  Without it, their season may be sunk.

Predicted Winner: Citadel Spectres

Hoboken Dread Pirates
(6-0)
Hopped Up Titans
(4-2)

Analysis

Just the facts Ma’am

  • ESPN projected scoring has this matchup as a tie with both teams getting 82 points.  It’s going to be a very tight game.
  • Shonne Green of the Dread Pirates had a career day last week.  The odds of that happening again though are very slim and that will severely lower point production.
  • RG3 is the top fantasy point scorer thus far this year.  The Hopped Up Titans have him and will be happy they did with a decent matchup against the NY Giants.
  • Sneaky good pickup of Felix Jones going against a terrible Carolina defense.  The Hopped Up Titans are primed for a good week, especially with players coming back from Bye Week.
  • With Matt Ryan and LeSean McCoy on Bye Week for the Dread Pirates, this may finally be the week they lose.  Especially with Jay Cutler coming in to start at QB.  Even when he’s good, he’s bad.

Predicted Winner: Hopped Up Titans

Tuchanka Thresher Maw’s
(2-4)
Cydonia Chryssalids
(3-3)

Analysis

Just the facts Ma’am

  • With the exception of one week, the Thresher Maw’s have not outscored the Chryssalids this year.
  • For the Thresher Maw’s, the trio of Michael Crabtree, Greg Little and Sidney Rice have not done much this season.
  • Trent Richardson of the Chryssalids has established himself a solid RB that you can count on.  That combined with a resurgent Reggie Wayne make this team very dangerous.
  • Marques Colston scored 21 and 31 points in the two games before the Bye Week.  This week he’s coming back, hoping to steer the Chryssalids to victory.

Predicted Winner: Cydonia Chryssalids

NJ Fear Boners
(2-3-1)
Binary Rock-Jocks
(1-5)

Analysis

Just the facts Ma’am

  • Some really badly timed Bye Weeks for the Fear Boners.  Jamaal Charles, Tony Gonzalez and Julio Jones are all out.
  • Aaron Rodgers is back to being his dominant self and the Binary Rock-Jocks have him
  • For the Fear Boners, Mark Ingram and Justin Blackmon are some terrible players.  To have to use them this week does not bode well.
  • All the sneaky good pickups over the weeks that the Rock-Jocks have been doing should finally pay off.  Randall Cobb and Kendall Wright should have good weeks.

Predicted Winner: Binary Rock-Jocks

Mars Space Cowboys
(0-6)
ARRGAN IISOU
(1-5)

Analysis

Just the facts Ma’am

  • This will be an ugly game.  Seriously.
  • Will Pedro and the Space Cowboys get back from his honeymoon cruise in time to set his lineup?  If he does, he has 6 people on bye week.
  • Will Jimmy of ARRGAN IISOU actually set their lineup and take out the players who are injured and out?
  • No one knows
  • I flipped a coin to determine who I thought would win.

Predicted Winner: ARRGAN IISOU

Week 7 Spotlight Match

Scottish Highlanders
(4-1-1)
Lunaris Robunnys
(4-2)

Analysis

Just the facts Ma’am

  • I stated that the Robunnys would make the playoffs over the Highlanders.  I’m going to stand by that.
  • Robunnys have some great defensive matchups.  Players will be going against Jacksonville, New Orleans, Carolina, Detroit and Oakland just to name a few.
  • Highlanders have seen a sharp decline in their scoring output because of Bye Weeks, injuries, and under performing.  If this continues, they will not have a great end to their season.

Predicted Winner: Lunaris Robunnys
