g33kBowl Week 13 Predictions

Submitted by on December 1, 2011 – 5:00 PM11 Comments

This is the end my friends!  The end of the g33kBowl regular season.  We still have two more weeks to go, where the top 4 teams in the league will fight it out for the uber trophy that we will be giving out at the end of the year.  While the majority of the playoffs spots are locked down, there is still the possibility that things could get a little mixed up as we go into the Playoffs next week.

With this being the end of the season though, what kind of crazy advice do I have?  Well, it’s what you should be doing during the off season so that you can prepare for next year.  I’m not saying that you need to watch the NFL network for 24 hours a day until August.  What you should do though, is take stock of what worked for you this year, and what didn’t work.  In a league of this size, a lot of emphasis is put on drafting well because there just aren’t a lot of free agents to go ahead and pick up.  So figure out what you need to do to draft better next year.  Biggest thing for that, is to know who the top players are at every position.

You’ll need to figure out who is really good, who got lucky this year, who is too much of an injury risk, who is going to be bad, etc.  It’s not an exact science but hopefully this little experiment has gotten you interested in playing for next year.

Another thing that is helpful is playing other Fantasy Sports.  As we continue to argue, Fantasy Sports are nerdy and geeky because they are all about math.  You don’t need to be the biggest fan in the world to spot trends, whatever the sport may be.  For example, if people wanted to do a Basketball Fantasy League, while many may not know who is what, if you looked at the stats and the trends over the past year, you could figure it all out eventually.

If there is interest in doing something else for the next few months please everyone let me know.  Otherwise, we can work together to make our playoff run for the 2011 g33kBowl EPIC  =)

Joey V Prediction Record: (40-30)
Majikman Prediction Record: (4-2-1)

Week 13 Matchups

Mars Space Cowboys (4-6)
Citadel Spectres (8-2)
Analysis

I pick against myself all the time. I do this because I like everyone else, and I honestly don’t think I can win a lot of the time. This time around, I’m very confident in my team. I’ve picked up really strong free agents, I’ve made some solid trades, and my players are still playing well even this late in the season. That means that I think I’ll win this week again Pedro and the Space Cowboys, and then lose my first round matchup to whoever it is. It’s just the way of things!

Predicted Winner: Citadel Spectres

Team Caporrino (6-6)
Tuchanka Thresher Maw’s (10-2)
Analysis

Cappy and the rest of her all-stars on Team Caporrino are technically still in the running for the playoffs. Unfortunately for her, she’s meeting up with Terry and the red-hot Thresher Maw’s. As a biased person who wants to win this league, I obviously would like Terry to lose this game. Just so that we can prove he has the potential to be beaten. That being said I’m not going to be biased and pick Cappy, but rather use some logic. Some of the stronger players on the Thresher Maw’s are hitting some minor injuries that their teams may choose to utilize the players less, or they may sit. Cappy’s team however is full of players starting to hit their stride. I think it’s a close one, but I’m going with Team Caporrino.

Predicted Winner: Team Caporrino

Hoboken Dread Pirates (5-7)
NJ Fear Boners (3-8-1)
Analysis

Been a tough year for these two g33kWatch Bros. This game, while having no bearing on the playoffs, definitely has a lot of pride on the line. What’s funny about this game is that ESPN has them both projected to score 83 points as of right now. I think the difference is going to be the implosion of the Eagles here. DeSean Jackson just hasn’t been anywhere near the Pro-Bowl Player that he is capable of being. That means a huge disadvantage for Chris and the Dread Pirates. That’s why I’m going with MZ and the NJ Fear Boners.

Predicted Winner: NJ Fear Boners

ARRGAN IISOU (8-4)
English Kniggits (3-9)
Analysis

Jimmy and the priates of ARRGAN IISOU are automatically in the playoffs which is great! The problem is that they seem to be limping into the playoffs. Their scoring output as of late has petered off to the lowest totals of the entire year. With so many injuries and no consistent WR threat, it’s going to be a tough task in the playoffs unless things change quickly. The Kniggits are sitting back wishing that Arian Foster wasn’t injured for part of the season as he has been an amazing part of the team as of late. I believe that the Kniggits beat IISOU as a matter of pride and spell the doom of them damn pirates!

Predicted Winner: English Kniggits

The Besaid Aurochs (5-7)
Lunaris Robunnys (7-5)
Analysis

Hey no pressure on Yogi and the Lunaris Robunnys, but if they lose this game they may very well not be in the Playoffs. If they win they are in. If they lose, they open up the flood gates for many different teams to sneak on in. While I could easily said that I’m picking the Aurochs just so that I can see the craziness happen and see what happens with Tie-breakers and what not, I actually dont’ like the direction that the Robunnys are going. The Aurochs are trending up in terms of points and the players are starting to come off injury and play harder. The Robunnys on the other hand have a struggling Philip Rivers, Vincent Jackson, and an injured Adrian Peterson. I’m throwing my lot in for the Aurochs!

Predicted Winner: The Besaid Aurochs

Team Malfunct (3-8-1)
Binary Rock-Jocks (6-6)
Analysis

Binary and the Rock-Jocks need to win this game for a shot at the playoffs. It’s a long shot, but you never know! That all being said, I’m giving the advantage to Malfunct. I think there are some solid players on Binary’s team, but Malfunct has players who are 1) more explosive scoring wise and 2) are fighting for real life playoff spots. That combination means that they will be way more motivated, at least in my estimation.

Predicted Winner: Team Malfunct

Week 13 Spotlight Match

Zombie Black Bears (6-6)
Scottish Highlanders (6-6)
Analysis

This is a very important matchup. The winner of this match, coupled with a Robunnys loss, could be poised to jump straight into the Playoffs. It’s not as much of a long shot as you may think! Both teams have obviously had up and down seasons as evidenced by their records. This time around though I’m giving the edge to Eco and the Zombie Black Bears. She has less injuries on her team, and everyone on her team is playing a very high level. Not to mentiont hat Brady has a matchup with the awful Colts to pad the points even further.

Predicted Winner: Zombie Black Bears
