Coming Into The Home Stretch – 2013 g33kBowl Week 8 Predictions

Get in the Fantasy Football / Halloween mood!Six weeks left in the regular season before we find out who the top four teams are and they battle it out in the playoffs.  These are some of the most important games we’ll have all season.  Obviously, I haven’t been able to get a handle on what is going on this season as my Prediction Record can attest.  It’s been a really difficult year with nagging injuries to certain guys, and some monumental under performing from guys that were drafted in the first three rounds.

All you can do is roll with the punches and hope that the Fantasy Gods are kind to you in this home stretch.  Here’s my short predictions for this week.

Joey V 2013 Prediction Record: (17-25)

Week 8 Matchups

Hoboken Dread Pirates (1-6)
The Besaid Aurochs (3-4)

The trade for Steven Ridley is paying off big time for Chris and the Dread Pirates.  While the Aurochs are lucky enough to have Gronkowski back in the mix at their FLEX, the fact that Katie still has Darryl Richardson in the starting lineup doesn’t bode well for the team’s bench depth.  I think the Dread Pirates will make a nice run here the next few weeks.

Predicted Winner: Hoboken Dread Pirates

Zombie Black Bears (2-5)
Cydonia Chryssalids (5-2)

Injuries have ravaged the Chryssalids.  They were able to stave it off last week but this week it doesn’t bode well.  I mean Paul is playing Carson Palmer for crying out loud.  That alone is cause for me to give the game to the Black Bears.

Predicted Winner: Zombie Black Bears

Scottish Highlanders (4-3)
Soldier’s Peak Wardens (3-4)

Looking over the last seven weeks, the Soldier’s Peak Wardens have only outscored the Scottish Highlanders twice in that time period.  In addition, the Wardens have not been consistent in terms of what their scoring threshold is, whereas Peyton Manning has been a very calming influence for the Highlanders.  I think we’re looking at a win for the Highlanders.

Predicted Winner: Scottish Highlanders

Citadel Spectres (5-2)
Hopped Up Titans (4-3)

The last two weeks have been unkind to the Spectres.  While the record was 1-1 in that time, the scoring output really suffered.  Meanwhile the Titans are starting to right the ship so to speak after a rocky start.  The key for the Spectres is to get some consistent points out of Darren Sproles and MJD.  Also, if they can get a big game from Victor Cruz, that will help out tremendously.  The Hopped Up Titans absolutely need their wide receivers to play well or they will be in trouble.  Their deadly RB duo of McCoy and Gore should give them a solid foundation, but if the WRs don’t come out to play, it’s going to be a long weekend for the team.

All being said, I think the Titans have a better overall lineup and are more likely to dominate their matchups.  Close match overall, but the edge to the Titans.

Predicted Winner: Hopped Up Titans

Lunaris Robunnys (4-3)

Throughout the season, these teams have had up and down scoring weeks.  If these teams were to play each other every single week, then they would have alternated wins every time.  With that in mind, last week ARRGAN IISOU scored more points, so this week I think the Robunnys will continue the trend.  Give me the bunnies!

Predicted Winner: Lunaris Robunnys

Week 8 Spotlight Match

Mars Space Cowboys (3-4)
NJ Fear Boners (3-4)

Groom and best man go head to head this week to find out who is poised to make a Playoff run, and who is likely out of it.

It’s a really epic matchup.  Unfortunately MZ’s Fear Boners team is decimated by injures and by Bye Weeks.  I’m going to pick the Space Cowboys, but trust me when I say, MZ and the Boners will find a way to make it close!

Predicted Winner: Mars Space Cowboys

  1. This week my roster has:

    3 Questionable
    3 Out
    3 Bye

    Everything is terrible.

  2. Well I don’t see how I can possibly make the playoffs at this point. I do seem to confound Joey’s ability to pick my matchups though.
