Mass Effect Marathon Announced!
15 September 2010
On September 10, 2010 Joey V sent out an email to all of his friends talking about how he was going to do a gaming marathon that benefit Child’s Play Charity. On September 15, the Mass Effect Marathon website opened up. The entire group only had two months to prepare for what was coming, but they were confident. An ambitious goal of $2,000 was set and plans were put into motion.
Website changes to g33kWatch!
23 May 2010After the whirlwind that was PAX East and Anime Boston, Joey V decided that it was time for a change. CosWatch was a lot of fun, but didn’t allow the group to really express themselves and their hobbies to their full potential. While the official announcement about the name changes went live on May 23, 2010, we always mark it as PAX East for us. That’s really when we looked around and say “Wait, we can talk about all the geeky stuff that we already like? Sweet!”
The 3′s came about very simply. We wanted GeekWatch, but someone in Australia already owned that domain. So we went with the 3′s instead of the E’s and we set on our next journey!

Our First Convention Panel
03 April 2010One week after PAX East, the entire CosWatch staff was in Boston, MA for Anime Boston 2010. Just so everyone is keeping score at home, that’s two weekends in a row that Joey V drove up to Boston for a convention. He was a little loopy.
We had a lot of staff on hand to take pictures, but it was also our very first panel that we ever held. It was entitled The Con Survival Guide for the Older Otaku and talked about how you can enjoy Anime and other conventions when you get a little bit older. It was a great time and really gave us our first opportunity to speak in front of a large crowd.
PAX East 2010
26 March 2010
PAX East 2010 is when things started to change for the site. CosWatch had been around a year and we were running around like crazy going to any Anime convention that would have us there. PAX East presented a unique opportunity as it wasn’t our target demographic.
We were so used to talking about Anime / Cosplay, and tailoring our content to that subset of fans, that we were starting to get burnt out on it. While we liked those topics, it wasn’t something that we enjoyed all of the time anymore. There was a definite sense that CosWatch was going to go away in the near future. The inaugural PAX East though changed all of that.
Only Joey V was present because he got his press credentials very late in the game. What followed though were three awesome days in which Joey got to meet really interesting people, take lots of pictures, play tons of video games, and begin to reevaluate what the website needed to be.

First Podcast Recorded & Posted
19 October 2009
After recording so many Podcasts over the years, it’s hard for us to even listen to our first. Our microphone was crappy, we had no idea what we were doing, but it definitely laid down the ground work for what was to come down the road. Joey V and Pedro talked about conventions, where we wanted the website to go, went on many conversational tangents, and made fun of M. Knight Shyamalan. Not much has changed since then.
CosWatch at Anime Boston 2009
22 May 2009
It was our very first convention and we definitely didn’t know what we were in for. We interviewed tons of different people, took many pictures, and were exhausted but happy at the end of the weekend. Looking back on it, it’s quite amazing that our first convention as a website had over 16,000 people in attendance.
