Katsucon 16 Weekend Photographs

Valentine’s day weekend is a very special time of year.  The time of year whe the Hallmark company reaches out in the world, into our pockets, and steals all of our money so that we can impress that certain some one in our lives.  Of course, we let Hallmark steal from us, because if that friend in your life doesn’t get a huge greeting card along with some candy harts and a big pink circus animal, you are going to be in some serious trouble.

This year though, we had the privilege of going to another fun little event by the name of Katsucon.  What did Dr. Weezil (pictured in the left hugging Bender) and our fantastic new photographer Ken find when they got the Gaylord Hotel in National Harbor, MD?  Cosplay, and lots of it!  What you will see below is over 100 pictures that we snapped throughout the weekend.

If you find yourself in the shots, feel free to leave us a comment, we loved your style!  That’s what Valentine’s Day is all about kiddies, loving the cosplay on display.

Also please note that the images below are resized for web viewing.  If you would like a higher resolution (300 dpi) copy for any reason, please contact us directly and we will be happy to help!

  1. This was indeed the con of may things:

“The Con of the Many Jesus” – three seperate dudes dressed as everyone’s favorite Buddy Christ

“The Con of the Many Deadpools” – three separate cosplayers, two male and one female, all with smart mouths

“The Con of the Many Multiples” – more than one of Jessica and Roger Rabbit, Tifa and Aerith, Harley Quinn and The Scarecrow, Link and Princess Zelda, Ghostbusters, and characters from Invader Zim

“The Con of the Hot CosPlayer” – my favorites, Hawkgirl and Power Girl, Tifa (solo above), Cheetara (rawr…), Ms. Spock (thanks for being so patient, we know you wanted to go to bed, honest!), Samus Aran, Sailor Moon (Ascending an Escalator) – a lost Botticelli…, and the Trio of Ladies (with the horns and wildcat paws).

“The Con of Weirdness” – not only was Katsucon 16 going on at The Gaylord, but also Raytheon, the defense contractor was there, as well as a Christian marriage convention, and an armed forced officer ball on Saturday night. I even saw Jeff “Skunk” Baxter from Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers walking around (he’s a defense industry “consultant’ these days).

Definitely a con for the ages…

Everyone enjoy the pics and tune in this weekend for my Katsucon 16 recap podcast!
