E3 is a pretty big time of year for gamers and geeks all over the world. This is the point where we get some veiled information about what we will be potentially be buying and playing in the future. Some of this information is helpful and can really inspire excitement. Most of it though, is just a bunch of marketing bullshit that we can all see right through and annoys us. So what did we do to celebrate? Why, we talked about it on the Podcast of course.
I could sit here and tell you about all the different stuff that we talked about, but why bother? The majority of you watched E3 and you know what we are going to touch on. The general feeling that came out from us though, was that Sony had a killer show. They came out, knew what they had to do in order to win over the popular opinion, and completely did it. We were all very impressed by it, and some of us even got our pre-orders in for the new PS4. That all being said there are somethings that everyone should remember.
Just because you have a good E3, doesn’t mean you are going to be successful. We won’t know who won the console wars for this generation, until a few years from now. The XBONE is where the future of gaming and media is going. That system will eventually be what we all have. Is it just coming out a generation too early? Will the PS4 have a bunch of hidden annoyances that we just don’t know about yet? Will PC Gaming make a comeback as the consoles just spin their wheels?
There are things that I do know though. I know that Microsoft’s marketing and messaging has been terrible. They have come across as extremely egotistical and not caring about their core audience. Sony has come across as a company that wants to atone for past missteps, and has gone out to hire a bunch of newer and younger executives that better understand the gaming marketplace. We may not know who will eventually win out, but we can easily see who we feel more comfortable hearing from.
We also know that Nintendo is just going to keep being Nintendo, and either you are on board with that, or you aren’t. Get over it.
Please leave us comments down below on what you think about the new consoles and what you loved seeing from E3 2013.
